ATHENS-Tyson donated 600 pieces of chicken for the tornado recovery efforts, but did not have anyone who could cook that much meat in a day.Athens Gas Department Manager Steve Carter offered the services of his grilling crew, comprised of Athens Gas Department employees who cook for non-profit projects.
“It was a way we could get involved in the relief effort,” Carter said. “We’ve been cooking all day (Friday).”
Today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Seven-Mile Post Road Church, first responders and storm victims are enjoying the culinary talents of the grilling crew.
