Dr. Claudia Ann Owens Walker, 58, of Town Creek, was born in Hartselle, Ala. Aug. 15, 1955, and died April 21, 2014.

She is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Anne Anderson and Clint Owen Anderson, both of Town Creek.

Dr. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Clinton Richard Owens and Annie Mae Owens.

In 1976, she was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.M. degree in Piano Performance. She also graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Math/Chemistry, and Troy State University, Montgomery, Ala., with an M.M. and M.S. degree in Music Education/ Performance. She also served as the music director, choir director, organist/pianist at the Gunter Air Force Base Chapel, Montgomery, Ala. She received her doctorate degree from Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in higher education administration. She was also coordinator of the National Science Foundation Tutoring Lab with tutoring/teaching emphasis in chemistry, calculus, higher mathematics, and physics. In 2010, she attended Stratford Career Institute and correspondence certificate program in Interior Decorating. In 2013, she received her Interior Decorator FL, CIT certificate.

She was in affiliation with several philanthropic organizations such as Chi Sigma Lota Honorary counseling society, Junior League of Morgan County, Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary teachers sorority, Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity for academic scholars, Lawrence County “Junior Miss” chair person, NW-SCC Foundation member, National Association for Native American Educators, Alabama Counselors Association, and the Radiance Garden Club of Courtland.

Visitation will be Friday, April 25, at noon until 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home in Moulton, Ala. with Father Roy Runkle of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Florence assisting. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Chaplin Josh Tancordo officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Wimberly, Max Witt, Donald Berryman, Burlis Mears, Danny Jeffreys, Stephan Upton and Neil Mulcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Horton and Braden Heath Anderson.
