Frank Rolan Turner – Obituary

Frank Rolan Turner, 81, formerly of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born February 24, 1933, in Houston to Dr. J. D. and Helen Turner. He grew up in Eupora and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1950. He attended Vanderbilt University and was a 1954 graduate of the University of Tennessee pharmacy school. He married Wanda Jean Barran of Savannah, TN, on October 1, 1954. They lived in Greenwood until 1970 when he bought S & W Pharmacy and moved to Fulton. He served four years as alderman and as president of ICDC. He was an avid supporter of the community and schools. Frank and his family were members of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a life member of Hamasa Shriners. Frank and Jeanne moved to Traceway Manor in Tupelo in 2007.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday, April 19, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Don Baggett officiating. Burial will be in the Saltillo Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Julie Pickle (Jerry) of Houston, TX; two sons, Tommy Turner (Kristen) of Tupelo and David Turner (Sarah) of Madison; six grandchildren, Brian Turner (Christy), Brooke Newsom (Blake), Matt Pickle (Ashlin), Jon Pickle, Emily Turner, and Laura Turner; five great-grandchildren, Calyn Turner, Brooklin Pickle, Judson Newsom, Quin Pickle, and Levi Newsom; and one brother, Harold Turner (Barbara) of Germantown, TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Jean Turner; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p. m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, P. O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060 or to Methodist Senior Services, 2800 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801.
