Varnie Amalavage – Obituary

Varnie Amalavage passed away on Thursday. She was a civil servant and had worked in the building and contracting division for The Missile Defense. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mrs. Amalavage was preceded in death by her husband, Albin Amalavage; parents, Lee and Vada Phillips; sisters, Veneer McEntire, Virginia Tucker; and brothers, Lee Phillips, Jr. and Lawrence Phillips.

Survivors include daughter, Phyllis Smith and husband, Steven; grandsons, Joseph and Timothy Smith; sisters, Vertie Zappe of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Viola Robinson of Jackson, Mississippi, several nieces and nephews; and loving family pet dog, Dixie.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday March 17 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
