ENROLL ALABAMATHE SHOALS-Enroll Alabama is the state organization that provides the certification and training for all Navigators.  They will be providing help in navigating the Affordable Care Act on Tuesday and Thursday in the month of March from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library. For those who cannot make these dates and times appointments can be set up outside those hours as well.  Call (256) 856-9810  to make an appointment.
Bama Covered is a student organization whose main goal is educating the public on the act. They have volunteers across the state as well. I will be working with their volunteers at events and in training as they reach out to the community.
Enroll The Shoals is the local arm of Enroll Alabama and Cameron Kelly-Johnson is the only federally certified Navigator in the Shoals area currently.
A few helpful websites:
We can
-provide answers to questions
-verify facts
-dispel rumours
-provide assistance in comparing health insurance plans
-walk individuals through the application process
-address problems with applications
-help individuals file appeals
-provide public or private presentations
Our main goal is to see as many people enrolled in health insurance as possible, while educating on the facts of the act to dispel enroll alabama 2rumours and fears.
At our help sessions, we most typically walk individuals through the application process and help them compare insurance plans they are eligible for and select them. 90% of the people I see come in without having started an application, but end up completing their application and enrolling in a plan before they leave. The process typically takes 45 minutes to just over an hour, but can vary depending on how complex someone’s situation is or how many questions they have.
Most importantly, there’s no risk in filing an application and no obligation to enroll in a plan if you do. So there’s no commitment by filing your application and viewing your options.
The best way to contact us is through an e-mail to EnrollTheShoals@gmail.com, a text to (256) 856-9810 or a message to our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/EnrollTheShoals. We are also answering phone calls, but our response time on the phone will be slower than e-mails, text or Facebook. We typically return all communications in 48 hours or less.
The final deadline for open enrollment is  on March 31st. After that date, you will not be allowed to enroll until open enrollment for 2015 begins in November without what is called a Qualifying Life Event. Changing jobs, getting married or having children all constitute a QLE, but procrastination does not.
