FLORENCE – Governor Robert Bentley on Friday will speak at the 2014 Alabama Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Six Alabama musicians will be inducted Friday night. The group includes country artist Hank Locklin, jazz musician Sun Ra, industry producer Charlie Monk, singer Candi Staton and songwriters and musicians Spooner Oldham and Dan Penn. Florence resident John Paul White of Civil Wars, who recently won his fourth Grammy award, will emcee the event. The Alabama Legislature created the Alabama Music Hall of Fame Board in 1980 to celebrate the state’s achievements in music, and build a facility for artifacts and information on the artists and their work.
The ceremony will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the ballroom at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center in Florence.
