Raymond Dallas – Obituary

Raymond, 93, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Okolona on November 28, 1920, the son of John Newton and Carrie White Dallas. A US Army Veteran, he served in World War II achieving the rank of Corporal. He worked for Air Cap Industries, retiring after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shannon and also a former member of the Lions Club for many years. He was the widower of Nell Dallas. He enjoyed hunting, Gospel Singings and spending time with his family.

Services with Military Honors will be 2 pm Tuesday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Bentham and Kathy Mancill (Jerry), all of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Dallas Browning, Jennifer Browning, Melissa Owens (Jared), and Jessica Mancill; and one great-grandson, Carter Mancill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Rick Maharrey, Billy Wayne Maharrey, Mike Robinson, Terry Johnson, Rodney Dallas and Sonny Corder

Honorary pallbearers will be Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Shannon Fist Baptist Church; Older Men’s Sunday School Class of Bissell Baptist Church

Visitation will continue one hour prior to service.
