Martha Sue Byrd Mills, age 86, of Tuscumbia, passed away peacefully Dec. 21, 2013. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery of Tuscumbia, with the Rev. Martha Hauer officiating.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Mills; grandson, David Klinghard; sister, Verna Mae Cobb; and brothers, James, Clyde and Morrison Byrd. She attended First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia for more than 50 years serving many of those years in the church nursery.
Survivors include son, Billy Mills (Carolyn), of Muscle Shoals; daughter, Lynn (Martin) Klinghard, of Hixson, Tenn; three grandchildren, Jacob Mills, of Tuscumbia, Daniel Klinghard (Cheri), of Worcester, Mass., and Mary Elizabeth Klinghard, of Hixson, Tenn; and three great- grandchildren, Amsden, Jocelyn, and Amelia Klinghard.
Pallbearers are Jacob Mills, Martin Klinghard, Daniel Klinghard, Dolphus King, Sonny Waddell, and Don Wallace.
The family wishes to extend appreciation to the staff of Wellington Place who provided loving care and attention during the last two years of Mrs. Mills’ life.
Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia is directing.
