Pearline “Collier” Garrett – Obituary

Pearline, also known as “Mama Garrett”, age 96, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 20, 2013 at NHC Columbia. She was born in Maury County, June 22, 1917 to the late George Robert Collier and Cordie Thurman.

Pearline worked as wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was one to always think of others. Taking care of people was a way of life, and the only one she knew. Pearline had a great gift of giving. She was a devout Christian woman and loyal member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Pearline is survived by her: daughters: Joyce Garrett and Brenda (Ken) Williams; granddaughter: Cynthia Mangrum; grandson: Gregg Williams; great granddaughter: Ashley Mangrum; and great grandsons: Zachary and Evan Mangrum. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Rev. Clyde H. Garrett.

Pallbearers will be: Dr. Allyn Lay, Terry Greenway, Troy Bowers, Monty Gilliam, Donald Paul, and Don Westmoreland. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Deacons of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist church, staff of WXRQ radio station of Mt. Pleasant, and staff of NHC Columbia.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home Columbia. Services for Pearline will be held Monday, December 23, 10:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home Columbia with Bro. Steve Swango and Bro. Donald Paul officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery.
