Jessie Willard Waldrop – Obituary

Jessie Willard Waldrop, age 83, passed away at his home after an extended illness.
Jess was born August 22, 1930 in Giles County. He was a long time member of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ. He retired from the Maury County Government as an operator at the Mt. Pleasant Collection Center, working with his best friends Buck & Bill and he enjoyed talking with all who came through. Jess was a talker whom loved his family, friends, fishing, farming, going to the Amish, picking his gold, the Vols, was an all time Braves fan, and his special paw pals Trixie & Buddy.
Funeral services for Jess will be Tuesday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant with burial to follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may visit on Monday, December 9th from 4-8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant. Bro. Randy McNeece will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will include: Jeremy Finley, Peyton Finley, Mike Waldrop, Rory Guthrie, Thomas Roberts, Keifer Roberts, Curtis Guthrie, Tevin Guthrie, Dereck Clifton, and Timmy Sims.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 33 years Elvira Marie Guthrie Waldrop, Children; Sheila Hickman, Ray (Arlene) Guthrie, Kay (David) Lott, and Michael (Kathy) Guthrie, Grandchildren; Rebecca (Brandon) Burleson, Jeremy (Stacie) Finley, Beth (Timmy Sims) Lott, Candace Guthrie, Rory (Carrie) Guthrie, Melisha (Michael) Woodard, and Curtis Guthrie (Samantha Barnett), Great Grandchildren; Ben, Brett, Brooke, Tevin, Lola, Kayla, Ashley, Peyton, Tyler, Michael Casey, and Kerestin, Great-Great Granddaughter; Katie, Loving Brothers; WC “Dub” (Carolyn) Walrop, Russell Waldrop, Loving Sister; Geneve Brown, and several nieces & nephews.
Jess is preceded in death by: his parents, M.L. and Haughty Waldrop, and several brothers & sisters whom he loved dearly.
His wife & mother of the children would like to express at this time a Big Thanks to his daughter Sheila for all her caregiving & late nights. Kay, David, Michael, Ray, Thomas, and Keifer for all their extra support given during Jessie’s illness, as well as, Hospice Compassus & Dr. Naddy & staff- especially Samantha and Tiffany.
