Carolyn Ann Schmidt, 80, died Friday, December 6, 2013, at The Meadows. She was born February 28, 1933, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Earl and Rita Blattert Lawler. She worked as a telephone operator before moving to Fulton. She then worked at Sherman’s and later at Itawamba Manufacturing Company until she retired. She was a member of the Hardens Chapel Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and being around her family.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday, December 8, at the McNeece–Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Hardens Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Lynn Leech (Bobby), Peggy Walton (Hady), and Susan Jones (Dwight); one son, John Schmidt (Dana); one son-in-law, Johnny Osbirn, all of Fulton; one brother, Richard Lawler (Janet) of California; one sister, Barbara Hillis (Dave) of Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Schmidt; one daughter, Karen Osbirn; one grandson, Hady Walton, Jr.; and her parents.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dustin, Lanny, Chet, and Josh Jones; John David Schmidt; Jamie Osbirn; Michael and James Leech; and Joey and Mark Whitaker.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Colton and Andy Osbirn and Evan Thomas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Saturday, December 7, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardens Chapel Methodist Church.
