Mitchell David Stanford – Obituary

Mitchell David Stanford, 67, died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born July 20, 1946 to Carl and Burnice Kelly Stanford. He served in the US Army in Germany where he lived for almost 20 years. When he returned to the States, he worked as a manager for a thread manufacturer, then worked at Delta and finally at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was an avid football and basketball fan and also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Services will be 2 pm Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Richardson officiating,. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery. Lee Memorial is in charge of the arrangements

Survivors include his wife of eight years, Kay Stanford of Saltillo; his children, Robert Stanford (Jana) and Martina Stanford Broller, all of Germany; four step children, Angela Sharp and Elizabeth Baker (Thomas) all of Saltillo, Katelynn Waggoner (Juan) of Florida and Justin Johnson of Saltillo; a sister, Betty Pannell (David) of Saltillo; a brother, Dalton Stanford (Barbara) of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Emila Stanford and Lisa Boller; six step-grandchildren; his stepmother, Nell Stanford of Houston; and a special friend, Kitty Hall of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Barbara Lynn Stanford, and a brother, Jimmy Stanford.

Visitation will be 4-6 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo MS 38804.
