SHEFFIELD – Police were called to the scene about 5:30 pm Thanksgiving Day. The evidence was right there near the center of the Old Railroad Bridge that told investigators something serious had happened. It looked like a murder had taken place right there.
Today, about 2:30pm a body was recovered there in about 12 feet of water by divers from the Florence Police Department.
Family and friends of Brioni Rutland, who were holding a vigil up on Cliff Haven where they could have a view of the recovery operation, feared the worst. As of this writing, the body has not been officially identified. But the signs were there.
The Quad-Cities Daily caught up with Police Chiefs, Greg Ray of Sheffield, and Tony Logan of Tuscumbia to find out they had learned.
