Dorothy Mae (Klenk) Coffman – Obituary

DorothyDorothy Mae (Klenk) Coffman, 95, passed away at home November 16, 2013 after an extended illness. She was born August 20, 1918 near Chelsea, IA, the daughter of William and Hallie (Villers) Klenk. She was married to Chester Coffman on September 23, 1941. For 50 years she and her husband owned and operated a cattle ranch/farm in Iowa. Upon retiring in 1989 they moved to Smithville, MS. Dorothy was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a rural farm wife, and enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, quilting and embroidery work.

Services will be 11 AM Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Vaughn and Helen Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park.

survivors include one daughter, Ruth (Terry) Fortik of Greenwood Springs; one sister, Letty (Don) Jack of Pella, IA; two granddaughters, Maegan (Corey) Settlemires of Pace, FL and Masriki Sayles of New York City, NY; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Paityn and Paisley Settlemires; two brothers-in-law, Don Jack of Pella, IA and Harold Jack of Chelsea, IA; and one sisterin-law, Kathryn (Jack) Klenk of Cedar Rapids, IA; two step-grandsons Dan Fortik of WY and Wesley Fortik of CO; step-granddaughters, Shelby and Cyndee Fortik; six nieces, six nephews, two step-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, three sisters, six brothers, one niece and one nephew.

Pallbearers will be Corey Settlemires, Parker Settlemires, Ken Headrick, Dan King, Terry Russell, Claude Jackson and John Sligh. Honorary escorts will be her caregivers from Hospice Advantace and Dr. Dwight McComb.

Visitation will be 10 am to service time at the funeral home.
