MUSCLE SHOALS – This should be really great. Music legend Donnie Fritts, the “Leaning Man of the Shoals” and member of the Alabama Music hall of Fame, and John Paul White, Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter are teaming up on a new album. In fact they plan to begin their session work this upcoming weekend.

Monday night, the duo performed at 116 East Mobile in Florence. It was the first time they had performed their music in public together, and they ‘knocked-it-out-of-the-park’. What a show!

For 50 years, Donnie was music superstar, Kris Kristofferson’s keyboard player. Kristofferson even wrote a few tunes based on Fritts, most notable “The Pilgrim, Chapter 33”. He is an accomplished songwriter with a number of hits recorded by music legends the world over. And now, with the partnership of White, Donnie is back!

Here are a few photos:

Donnie and John Paul White began the show, and another Fritts, Johnny Fritz (no relation) from Nashville finished off the evening.
