FLORENCE– The September First Fridays, which will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Court Street in downtown Florence on September 6, will feature some of the best aspects of small town life, including a pep rally for the Florence High School Falcons.
“First Fridays is a celebration of our community,” said First Fridays committee chairwoman Lexi Sandlin. “From the vendors to the music to the vibrant retail and restaurant setting of downtown, the monthly event brings hundreds of people to the area, and September’s event is a celebration of all that we do best.”
A 6 p.m., the Florence High School athletic program will lead the crowd in a pep rally for the Falcons football team. This will take place at the intersections of Court Street and Mobile Plaza. Stay near that location for the surprise event that will take place between 7:15-7:30 p.m.
Additionally, participants in the River Bottom Swamp Romp will be able to pick up their event packets at the registration area on Court Street. The Swamp Romp is scheduled to take place Sept. 7 at McFarland Park.
More than 80 vendors will line both sides of Court Street as part of the event. They bring with them a variety of top-quality hand-made items crafted from fabric, glass, wood, and other materials. Among the vendors are those who event-goers have come to expect as well as those brand new to First Fridays.
Music will be provided on the Billy Reid stage by The Bear and the Bride, Clara Belle and the Creeps, and SCM Electrix beginning around 6 p.m.
The Pumpkin Drop will be back for the First Fridays in October. Jack O’Lantern Farms has been growing a pumpkin that will be sure to shake the ground downtown once its dropped on Oct. 4. November and December events are also shaping up to be fun and, as always, family-friendly.
First Fridays, which is sponsored by Listerhill Credit Union, is a committee of Downtown Florence Unlimited and takes place the first Friday of every month during March through December.
