Richard “Dick” Wharton – Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Dick” Wharton, age 86, are scheduled for 4 PM, Monday, July 1, 2013 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Bro. Mark Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Wharton passed away Friday at his home in Lexington. He was born May 9, 1927 in DeWitt, Arkansas to the late Pearcy and Ada Honnell Wharton. He was a retired owner of an appliance repair business in Lexington for 20 years and was an elder and member of Lexington Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a professional musician, playing saxophone and clarinet, playing most recently in Wayne Gerald’s Blues Band. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Douglas and Elsa Hutt. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marie Scott Wharton of Lexington, his son, Scott Wharton of Lexington, and one granddaughter, Beth Wade (Craig) also of Lexington.
