The free film series The Screening Room: Classics, Crowd-Pleasers, Cult Favorites and Neglected Gems continues this week with special showings of two cherished Hollywood classics at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 N. Wood Ave., Florence, Alabama.
Holt, Huston and Bogart
Humphrey Bogart, Tim Holt and Oscar winner Walter Huston star in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20. Bruce Bennett, Barton MacLane, Alfonso Bedoya and Robert Blake co-star in John Huston’s action-adventure drama about a trio of greed-driven prospectors searching for gold in the Sierra Madre mountains.
The series continues at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, with a special 50th-anniversary showing of Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in director Stanley Donen’s witty, offbeat suspense thriller Charade (1963). The stellar supporting cast features Walter Matthau, James Coburn and George Kennedy.
The June lineup concludes at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, with Kerwin Mathews, Kathryn Grant and Torin Thatcher in a special “Farewell to Ray Harryhausen (1920-2013)”showing of Nathan Juran’s The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1957).
